Your Face In My Mirror

Asher: Sorry to intrude. We’re looking for Gideon Bennett.

Gideon: You found him.
Asher: My name is Asher Williamson, and these are my brothers, Eli and Eron. We’re here from….
Gideon: I know where you’re from.

Gideon: Been looking at your face in my mirror for as long as I can remember. I don’t have to be told who you are. Only who goes with what name -- and you just covered that.
Asher: You’re way ahead of us, then.

Gideon: (amused) Guess I am……Well, whaddya know? The West Virginia contingent, right here in the Big Apple. I’d say ‘Welcome,’ but since I don’t know what you’re doing here, I don’t know if you are.

Eli: How come you know about us and we just heard about you?
Gideon: Probably because you’re not anybody’s well-kept family secret.
Eli: And you are? What are you talking about?

Asher: Look, you can believe this or not, but we only found about you yesterday.
Gideon: Oh, I believe you. So what made the old lady finally cave and tell you all about our father’s extracurricular activities?

Eron: Grandma’s gone. Three years now.
Gideon: Oh…. Well, sorry about that. So how did you find out?
Asher: She left a letter telling us about you and where you lived. It was delivered three years after she passed away, at her request.
Gideon: That’s plain weird. Why wait like that? It couldn’t make much difference to her.
Asher: That’s one of the questions we had, too. Guess we were hoping finding you would help answer that.

Gideon: Well, I can’t help you with it. How would I know what she was thinking? Never met the old bat…..uh… old girl…. myself. My mother might have, but she’s out of the country so you’re out of luck there. I can tell you this much, though: You keep pushing for answers, you might not like what you find.
Asher: What do you mean?
Gideon: Only that Dear old Dad was a pretty busy guy. Who knows how many of us are running around that we don’t know about? There’s you three in WV, two more here in NYC….
Asher, Eli & Eron: TWO?!?!?
