Kaida: OK, Slavedriver, I’m here for my daily dose of clean-up-after-Pe…………wait a minute – it’s actually neat in here – You sick, Pete?

Pete: Ha, ha, funny, Kaida. No, I’m not sick. You have this place organized so well now I can find everything without messing things up looking. So ummm, thanks.
Kaida: You’re welcome. So is this new leaf of yours turned flipside forever? Or is this a one-time deal?

Pete: I try to keep it picked up. You know how it gets in the middle of production when Asher is calling out commands fast, though. Everything just seems to fly around on its own, and it never lands where it’s supposed to stay.
Kaida: You got that right. So that’s it – Asher’s not been here, so there’s nothing to fetch and nothing to get messed up, huh?
Pete: That’s pretty much it!

Kaida: (sighs) It’s too quiet though, I miss them.
Pete: Want something to do? I can sure use…
Kaida: No way! I’m not interested in cleaning your car for you, too!
Pete: (laughing) Nah, that’s too much - even for you. I meant something to do here, something that doesn’t involve any straightening or cleaning.

Kaida: (suspiciously) What then?
Pete: Well, you’re a girl, right?
Kaida: Hang on, let me check…..
Pete: Heh, heh, just trying to bug ya. Thing is, I need a girl’s opinion on something.

Kaida: Really? What’s that?
Pete: I…um… have sort of a date tonight, and I don’t know what I should wear….

Kaida: (laughing) A date? Really, Pete? YOU? Come off it, you’re just trying to distract me, right? You really do want me to clean your….
Pete: No, really, I have a date. Some friend of my sister’s. I’m not sure how I got stuck with this blind date gig, but I’m going through with it - for a couple reasons.

Kaida: Yeah? What are the reasons?
Pete: The first is I found out who it is. My little sister likes to tattle on my older sister. Well, she likes to if I pay her. This friend is a real looker. A little older than I am, but that doesn’t bother me.
Kaida: Sounds good so far – and the other reason?

Pete: Look around – you see much potential for social interaction here? Any girls? I gotta grab my opportunities when they come around. There’re the actresses, but their full rehearsals don’t start for a few weeks yet, and they’re all pretty uppity anyway. Stuck on themselves, you know?

Kaida: I guess I can help – whatcha got? What are your choices?
Pete: Hang on, I’ll go get ‘em.

Kaida: Nope, not that.

Pete: What’s wrong with it?
Kaida: Nothing. It’s a great suit, but it’s too dressy for a first date with a friend of a bossy older sister. It kinda says “geeky kid who is trying too hard”. What else you got?

Kaida: No, no and no…. you’d need a few dozen earrings with that and you don’t seem the type. Anything else?

Pete: Sheeeesh Kaida, again I gotta change?
Kaida: Sheeeesh Pete, stop being such a guy, willya?

Pete: (grumbling) Ok, Ok…….

Kaida: That might be the one, unless you’re hiding any more choices back there.
Pete: Nope, this one was my last hope. So, you sure this will work?
Kaida: Sure I’m sure. You look….. pretty okay, Pete.

Pete: (wryly) Thanks for the underwhelming support and most generous praise.
Kaida: I was just wondering, why didn’t you want me to fix you up?
Pete: I didn’t want anyone to fix me up – this’ll just keep my sister off my case for a little while. It’s easier than fighting with her. But thanks for the help on this, Kaida. Now I’ll have someone else to blame - if I bomb.

Kaida: I knew it! (to herself, as he leaves) Sure, Pete, sure. Sure you didn’t want to be fixed up.
