Two Sides To Every Story: Part Two

Jeremiah: Thanks for the loan of the suit. I dropped it off at the cleaners.
Asher: How was your date with Demi?
Jeremiah: *shrugs*
Asher: That good, huh?

Jeremiah: I don’t want to talk about it.
Asher: Okay.

Jeremiah: I don’t think she likes me much. I think she was bored out of her skull. The minute the dancing stopped, she stopped pretending to be interested.
Asher: Why do you think that?

Jeremiah: Then when I brought her a plate from the buffet, she thanked me politely but didn’t touch any of it. I asked her a couple times if things were okay, and she just said “fine.” You know what that means. And she watched the clock like she couldn’t wait to get it all over with.

Asher: It was New Year’s Eve, Jare. Everyone watches the clock on New Year’s Eve. Have to be in the right place with the right person doing the right things when the ball drops, you know?
Jeremiah: Guess I wasn’t the right person.

Jeremiah: I’m betting she only accepted in the first place because there was dancing. Once the band packed up and left, she had a hard time getting through the rest of the long, boring night. I tried to talk to her, but she acted annoyed and just blew off all my questions. Finally I ran out of things to say.

Jeremiah: I think she was relieved when midnight came and went – meant she could finally head home.

Asher: Sorry it didn’t go well, Jeremiah. Maybe it just wasn’t meant to be.

Jeremiah: Yeah, well, with this kind of start to the New Year…..

Jeremiah: ….. things can only get better, right?
Asher: Hey, now, that’s the spirit!
