Telephone Trio, Part Three (Gideon/Jeremiah)

Gideon: Mom said she called you and you blew her off.
Jeremiah: I didn’t. I just refused to run back to New York just because she said I had to.
Gideon: *laughs* Bet that was a fun conversation. What did she say about that?
Jeremiah: She wasn’t real happy about it. What did she do when she found your renters in the house?

Gideon: She never did. The last ones left a month ago and I didn’t rent it again. You know how Mom has a way of just turning up, so I figured I better play it safe. Besides, I don’t really need the extra cash anymore.
Jeremiah: Never thought I’d hear you say that. Why not?

Gideon: Finally caught that first big break.
Jeremiah: Yeah? How’s that?
Gideon: An independent company is producing a film version of the play I was doing.
Jeremiah: And they wanted you?
Gideon: They did. It’s a great contract, especially for a small studio, and for me being a relative unknown. And get this – I didn’t have to go through the usual cattle call – they approached me.

Jeremiah: Well, that’s cool. Guess that explains your good mood. Must be great to have someone want you like that.
Gideon: Aw, what’s the matter, Jermy? New favorite brother not making you feel loved and appreciated in the back of beyond?
Jeremiah: No, Asher’s been great. Just wondering how it feels to have someone seek you out instead of dumping you like last weekend’s takeout.
Gideon: Don’t be such a whiner. You ought to be used to that by now; Mom’s been doing the ‘disappear to Europe’ thing since you were a kid…….. I’ve got another call coming in - gotta go. *disconnects*

Jeremiah: It wasn’t Mom I meant.
