Gerri: I so need this today. What a week it’s been.

Gerri: *as her cell rings* Oh shit. I have to get this.

Gerri: Damn you Gideon. Of course you’d pick now to finally return my call…

Gerri: Where’ve you been?
Gideon: *laughs* Good afternoon to you, too, Gerri my love. Is this a bad time?
Gerri: You could say that, but I’ll make this brief. I had a call early this morning ……out of the blue, so to speak……. It’s been quite some time since I’ve heard from Janelle.
Gideon: *coldly* Oh really? And what did my loving mother have to say?

Gerri: She was looking for you, among other things.
Gideon: And where was she calling from? Austria? Rio? Bora-bora?
Gerri: She’s home in New York, smartass. And she seemed more than a little put-out that she couldn’t get in touch with you. Don’t you let your own mother have your personal cell number?

Gideon: I had to change it recently; you know that. Listen, Gerri, I know you two go way back, but I really couldn’t give a rip about my mother and why she’s put out. As if she really cared….
Gerri: You know she cares, Gideon, in her way. She may not say it or show it often but…
Gideon: Look, I don’t have time for this right now. And I don’t pay you to play family therapist.

Gerri: Don’t be a little shit, Sweetheart. You do not want to get on my bad side.
Gideon: Then stop picking away at mine……….damn it, Gerri.

*long silence*

Gerri: Apparently your mother can’t connect with Jeremiah either. Do you know how she can reach him?
Gideon: I’ll text you his number when I get back. Wouldn’t surprise me if he doesn’t get reception in that backwater where he’s staying, so I’ll give you the number to the land line.

Gerri: Good – I’ll pass it on to her. I won’t say any more on the subject, Gideon, but I hope you’ll change your mind and call her.
Gideon: *sighs* I will – eventually. I always do.

Gerri: Well. That was exceedingly stressful.

Gerri: I’m not sure the rest of that massage is going to be sufficient. I may need something more….

Gerri: ……..to relax me……
