Eli: I still say you shoulda let me re-arrange his face. Just a little.
Asher: Gideon’s?
Eli: Yeah – talkin’ trash about Grandma like that.
Asher: He didn’t know her, Eli. And it sounded like everything he’s ever heard has been more than a little twisted.
Eli: That’s no excuse!

Asher: No, it isn’t. His attitude really stinks. Don’t get me wrong – what he said pissed me off too, but we need him right now.
Eli: What the hell for? We sure never needed him before.

Asher: Keeping the lines of communication open with Gideon might be the only way for us to get answers to some of our questions. But not if you re-arrange his face.
Eli: Damn. It woulda felt real good.
Asher: Eli, I know it’s a temptation to take out what you’re feeling on someone like that, but be fair.
Eli: Fair? Like he’s being fair?
(long silence)

Asher: (sighs) I’m pretty angry with Grandma right now, too.
Eli: I didn’t say I was mad at Grandma.
Asher: No, but you are, aren’t you? And it’s understandable. She wasn’t honest with us, and whatever her reason was, it’s something we still have to figure out. Like it or not, Gideon can help us. And once we have our answers, maybe we can let it go. Maybe we won’t have to have anything more to do with him. I hope.

Eli: So you got any good guesses?
Asher: About why Grandma did what she did? A few guesses…. Don’t know how good they are.
Eli: I remembered something – you remember the time me and Grandma had that really big fight?
Asher: Which time was that, Eli? Must have happened hundreds of times. You were quite the little butthead.

Eli: I know, I know. And you and Eron were always so perfect, but I… never mind about that. What I was talkin’ about was the time she grounded me for like a year. That time for some strange reason she really lost her temper – and yelled back. Never made any sense until today; now I’m guessin’ it was more what I said than what I did.
Asher: What did you say?
Eli: That was the one and only time I made the mistake of telling her I didn’t have to do what she said, because she wasn’t my mother……or father.

Asher: Yowsers. You’re lucky she didn’t skin you alive.
Eli: Don’t I know it.
Asher: We need to get back on the road.

Asher: Eron? You ready to get going again?

Eron: Yeah.
