On the Job

Today Jill was going to be all by herself in the office where she works. I figured what the heck? I’m bored this summer, so maybe I could tag along, keep her company.

Jill works in a really small school. Technically she is the Office Manager and Administrative Assistant to the Education Director, but that’s quite a mouthful, so she lets people shorten it to “secretary.” Jill manages the flow of communication for the whole school, while the teachers try to manage the students……
………..I found out one of Jill’s dirty little secrets. She’s got a two-pack-a-day habit.

Two packs of sticky-notes, that is. Jill says her organizational “system” would completely fall apart without plenty of Post-It notes on hand. And of course they MUST be in as many bright colors as possible.

The school has a real bell but it’s hokey. They ring this thing when it’s time to go home. Teachers really LOVE to hear this thing ring, even more than the students do.

I decided to help by retrieving a printout from the new printer. The old printer got fried during an electrical storm. Lots of those storms around here in summer.

Hey Jill! You told me this was KENZO’S picture you were printing! It’s just a stupid supply memo!

Jill can also print directly to this copier. Are we high-tech or what?

OK, Jill! Still waiting for that picture I ordered! While you’re at it, make me at least a half dozen…

What a cheesy PA system! Er…..Can I try it out?

Oh yeah? I didn’t know it broadcast outside too. Never mind.

Hey Jill, can you help me with this stupid thing? The handle is stuck and it won’t budge.

Oh, never mind – heh, heh, it was locked.

Next time I’ll use better paper – this print quality isn’t the best.

What? You knew I was printing stuff… what else would I print? Ok, Ok, I’ll do the rest in black and white.

I hope three pages of each will do the trick.

Oh, you’ll see – but you can bet none of them will be wasted.

Let me get that – you showed me how to run the fax machine, remember?

Things are a lot quieter during the summer. In fact, it’s kinda boring. Guess I’ll wait to help out more on a busier day. Today I’ll let Jill take me home when she goes for lunch.
