Part One: Christmas Spirit

Kaida: Hey Asher, the theater’s dark after this weekend, right?
Asher: Before the weekend, Kaida. The Christmas show this year had a limited run, and we won’t be extending the contract. Friday night’s the last performance and after that we all get a much needed three-week “vacation.”
Kaida: Ummm, then…I need…. could I ask a really big favor?
Asher: What do you need, Kaida?

Kaida: I need a place to have a gift-wrapping party. The high school Thespians Society did a service project this month, collecting money and buying toys to give to kids down at the shelter. We did really well, too, only that has created a little problem for us. We have TONS of stuff to wrap and no place to do it. So I was wondering – could we do it here? Maybe set up in the lobby or someplace like that?
Asher: That sounds like a nice thing to do, and in the best Spirit of Christmas. Who is “we?”
Kaida: Just me and a few other girls from the club.

Asher: And what do you need from me, to hold your “party?”
Kaida: Nothing, except to open up for us and lock up after. What do you say?
Asher: I say you’ve got yourself a place to wrap presents.

Kaida: Thanks! I really, really appreciate it, Asher! Gotta go tell the committee! *leaves*

Asher: *aloud, but to himself* Hmmmm, seems to me there should be something we could do to make their party a little more fun…..

Amanda: You might hire an orchestra, dear. Young girls love to dance the night away. After their work is finished, of course. Then perhaps a grand late night buffet….
Asher: *joking* And would you be intending to make an appearance at this little soiree, Amanda? That would really make their night.

Amanda: Oh, no, I am afraid I shall have to decline, Darling. If the time should ever come to reveal my presence to others, I would prefer the occasion to serve as more than a moment’s entertainment for a group of school girls. Even if they are generously giving their time to perform a community service…. But do consider that orchestra, won’t you? It would be wonderful to hear the music and watch young people dancing here once more…. *disappears*

Asher: Not going to be able to manage a whole orchestra, Amanda, but thanks. You’ve given me an idea…..

To be continued….
