More About You, More About Me

Kohana: I’m so glad you could come over for the holiday. How is it that you were available on Christmas? I know you must have family, or good friends at least, to spend it with.
Asher: I do have family, but they can manage without me there at Christmas this once. I cancelled my participation in our usual Christmas Day pizza-and-football bash.

Kohana: Oh no! You should have said something! I feel bad that we kept you away from that.
Asher: Not kept away, more like rescued….
Kohana: Oh dear, you don’t enjoy visiting with your family? Don’t you get along?

Asher: Well for me, family just means my younger brothers. Now that my Grandma’s gone, it’s just the three of us. I get along fine with them one at a time, but together – yikes. They bicker constantly, and I get to referee.
Kohana: So tell me about them. How old are they?

Asher: The twins? They’re about your age.
Kohana: Oh my goodness, they’re twins? My age? I haven’t known many twins. How very… interesting...

Asher: Don’t you go getting too interested in anyone else there, Kohana. Not even my brothers. Especially not my brothers…
Kohana: I can’t help being fascinated. Twins….. I’m intrigued.
Asher: Hey!

Kohana: But only because they are your brothers of course.
Asher: Ah, it’s clever you are.
Kohana: (smiling) I try. I think I’ve had to be, from dealing with Kaida all my life!
Asher: I hear you there. She’d be a challenge for anyone…. But nothing like the challenge her older sister is.

Kohana: Me? I’m a challenge?
Asher: You were and you are. Of the best sort, of course.
Kohana: I don’t enjoy being a pushover, so I guess I don’t make things easy for people.
Asher: I don’t guess you do. But let me tell you something more about me…
Kohana: What would that be?

Asher: I’m the type that appreciates a good challenge….and for my next one….I will attempt…

Asher: … to coax a Christmas kiss from a very special friend….

Asher: Who is finally more than a friend…
