For Leilani
Kaida: I think this stage is becoming one of my favorite places.
Kenzo: Yeah, it’s a great place to hang out. Especially with you.
Kaida: Awwwww, you’re so sweet.

Kenzo: Kaida, stay right there for a minute, ok?
Kaida: What? Where are you going?
Kenzo: Just wait for me – right here, …please?
Kaida: Oh---kay……..

Kaida: That wasn’t a classical piece like I expected.
Kenzo: (quietly) No.
Kaida: I know it though. I can recognize “Sweet Leilani” anywhere. I don’t know what to say….

Kaida: (chattering nervously) I’m glad I finally got to hear you play. You play so well. I bet you’re going to be rich and famous someday. Bet it took a lot of practice to get that good.

Kaida: Bet you haven’t ever moved from one thing to another like me to stay happy. Bet you never had to try a million things before you could decide what you wanted.

Kaida: I play that song all the time at home. ‘Course, my CD never sounds nearly that good. Never means anywhere near as much as….

Kenzo: Kaida.
Kaida: What?

Kenzo: They just dimmed the lights. Time for the audience to be quiet now.

…to be continued…
