Donovan: Elena…
Donovan: I’m sorry - I can’t explain any better than I have.
Elena: You have explained nothing.
Donovan: I know that you ask because you care, and not only out of curiosity. But that doesn’t make a difference. I’m just not ready to talk about it.
Elena: Do you not a think it has been long enough?
Donovan: Maybe you think so, but you can’t really feel what I feel, can you?
Elena: Not when you push me away.
Elena: I do not a think you will ever be free of it if you cannot a share with someone. If not a me, then someone else. But share you must.
Donovan: I can’t do that.
Elena: Let us leave it alone then. Come, sit with me.
Elena: Sometimes watching the water here, it brings me peace.
Elena: We will not discuss the past. Tell me again instead, about what your life is a like now.
Donovan: Busy. But you know that. So busy I can’t get away much. You know that, too.
Elena: Si, I know. I would like to hear more of your feelings, about your life in the theater. My work you have a seen, but of your work, I know little.
Donovan: My feelings about my work have changed, along with my role. That was my intention all along. I needed to….wanted to be more in charge; it’s damned frustrating watching an inept director kill a show when you know you can do better.
Donovan: I know that sounds arrogant, and maybe it is. But I’m finding that I like to be in control.
Elena: Do you miss acting?
Donovan: Absolutely. But I don’t miss the need to reach deeply for feelings…. that simply aren’t there anymore.
Elena: I believe they are still there.
Donovan: (bitterly) And I bet you still believe in fairy tales, don’t you?
Elena: You have spoiled my mood with your bad one. There is a no peace to be found for me here this day.
Donovan: Elena, I am sorry. Don’t give up on me….. not just yet.
Elena: Then do not a give up on yourself. What you seek may yet live in your heart.
Donovan: This much I can say….
Donovan: Siete nel mio cuore. (You are in my heart)
Elena: Inoltre siete nel mio cuore. (You are also in mine)
Donovan: So I was thinking, maybe you’d like to come east for a little while.
Elena: SI! YES!
Donovan: *teasing* Does that mean you’ll think about it?
