Impatience
Asher: Hey Shortstuff, how’s it going?
Kaida: Good, okay, but this waiting is driving me crazy. I want Kenzo to get here now! I have no patience left.
Asher: I can see that patience isn’t exactly your strong suit.

Kaida: You can say that again!
Asher: I can see that patience isn’t exactly…..
Kaida: Arrrrrgh not that old routine!
Asher: Sorry, couldn’t resist.

Kaida: I don’t know how you do it.
Asher: Who me? What do you mean?
Kaida: I don’t know how you can stand waiting so long for things to happen. Must be easier when you get older.

Asher: Maybe. (wryly) I think we older, more mature types have just learned that patience is the only thing that works in certain situations.
Kaida: And with certain people?
Asher: Yeah….. that too.

Kaida: She’ll come around. Hopefully it will be soon.
Asher: Who?
Kaida: Don’t be dense.

Asher: I’m not. I just haven’t seen any reason to get to the hopeful stage yet.
Kaida: Well here is something that might make you feel better….
Asher: What?

Kaida: Kohana said I was supposed to invite you over for Christmas dinner – if you’re not busy.
Asher: Yeah?
Kaida: Yep…..So are you? Busy, I mean?

Asher: I might be, but I can always un-busy myself with the right motivation….
Kaida: She said it would be a good way for me to thank you for putting up with my antics around the theater. I know the real story though…

Asher: Which is?
Kaida: I think she doesn’t want to be lonely on Christmas and she knows she’s going to feel like a third wheel once Kenzo shows up. You could come in handy.
Asher: Handy, huh? What a compliment. Be careful you don’t give me a big head.
Kaida: She didn’t say that – I did. So does that help you get closer to the hopeful stage or anything?

Asher: Maybe. But it’s not helping at all with the impatient stage.
Kaida: You could always pace with me!
(A little later)

Asher: Tell Kohana I’ll be there. On Christmas. For dinner.
Kaida: OK, great! But I have a better idea…why don’t you call her and tell her?
Asher: I could do that. Better yet, I could talk to her when she comes back to pick you up. Will she come in?
Kaida: She will if I’m not waiting. I could make sure I’m not waiting.
Asher: Sounds like a plan.
