Continued from "Her Birthday", the next day...
Eron: Hey Kohana, how’s it going?
Kohana: I’m fine, how are you guys?
Eli: He’s good, I’m good. Everyone’s good.
Kohana: What are you up to this weekend?
Eron: Moving more stuff today. So how did you celebrate the big birthday? You and Asher go out or anything?
Kohana: No, I just stopped to see him for a few minutes on my way home from school. We’re going out tonight instead.
Eli: Guess that would explain why you’re all gussied up. Lookin’ good.
Kohana: Why…. thank you, Eli.
Eron: You do look very nice, Kohana. I like the pin you’re wearing. I don’t think I’ve ever seen you wear jewelry before.
Kohana: No I don’t, not often. (blushes) This was a gift – from Asher.
Eli: Aw, isn’t that sweet….Hey you know what though? It sure looks a lot like my….
Eron: (under his breath) Shut up, idiot.
Eli: …A lot like something I saw in a catalog once or something…
Eron: Uh… we need to get going, Kohana. Have a great time celebrating tonight.
Eli: Yeah, don’t do anything we wouldn’t do. That leaves…
Kohana: Leaves me almost unlimited choices, I know.
Eron: You moron. Don’t you ever shut up?
Eli: OW!... What??? I was just gonna say…..Didn’t that look like Mom’s pin to you?
Eron: It was Mom’s pin, bigmouth. I knew it the minute I saw it. I don’t think Kohana knew it though. Asher must not have said anything about it.
Eli: Well, that’s just plain stupid. Why wouldn’t he tell her? I thought he said he was always going to keep it in the family.
Eron: Yeah, he did. Which makes me think he’s got some plan to have it return to the family. Even someone as dense as you ought to realize what that means.
Eli: Do you really think he’s that serious about her?
Eron: Must be. I’m just surprised, that’s all. She’s nothing like any of the other girls he’s hooked up with.
Eli: That’s for sure.
Eron: On second thought, maybe that’s a good thing. Most of the others weren’t so great.
Eli: You still have your heirloom from Mom?
Eron: Yeah, you?
Eli: Yeah.
Eron: Since it’s all we’ll ever have, I keep it safe.
Eli: Yeah, me too.
