Gotcha!

Kaida: Ooops! Oh, just great!

Asher: Hey Kiddo, lemme help you there.
Kaida: Thanks Asher! Gosh, I have a case of the clumsies. Might want to steer clear – I’m a walking disaster area today.

Asher: I’m sure it can’t be all that bad – hey what are these? Kohana? Wow, your sister looks great in these.
Kaida: She’s gorgeous when she gets all glammed up. It’s silly that she downplays her looks most of the time.
Asher: Oh, I wouldn’t say that. I mean, she’s pretty any day, but these … wow …. Where did they come from? Your sister doesn’t seem to be the type to sit for a glamour portrait or anything…
Kaida: Oh (blushes) Um…. I took those.
Asher: YOU? You’re kidding me, right?

Kaida: Nope, last year, for Photography Club at school. Photography was my “thing” last semester. Kinda like acting is now. Kohana says I have an amazingly short attention span, but I just can’t seem to stay interested in one thing forever, you know? There’s too many things to learn to get stuck on just one of ‘em.
Asher: Well it looks like you learned a lot even if you weren’t doing photography all that long. These photos are great.
Kaida: Oh, thanks!

Asher: Why do you have them with you? I would think you’d want to keep them somewhere safe.
Kaida: Oh, that. My club advisor is a little ditzy. He kept forgetting to get these back to me and today he finally remembered. Don’t worry – I’ll put ‘em away carefully when I get home.
Asher: Funny how things work out. Now I know something about you I didn’t know before. Ya got real talent, kid.

Kaida: Thanks! I’ll be sure to tell Kohana you said so. She’s always exasperated when I go off on a new tangent. Hey, what was it like when you were deciding what to do for your career? Did you have to try a whole bunch of stuff like me or did you know right away what you were going to do?
Asher: Oh I always knew what I wanted. At least since I was in high school, anyway. It took a little while to convince my Grandma that I wouldn’t turn into ‘some slick and sleazy Hollywood type,’ as she used to put it, but she eventually said I should go do what I wanted, even encouraged me to do it. I tried acting, but I wasn’t very good, and there was always something about staging that I really liked. I think it’s because I can control almost everything for a little while, make a world that’s exactly the way I think it should be.
Kaida: I never looked at it that way before. That’s so cool. But….

Kaida: …..Oh shoot! I’m late for rehearsal – gotta run!
Asher: Seeya later, Kiddo.

Asher: Hmmmm…. she missed this one.

Asher: Might have to just keep missing it…

Kaida: (to herself, from behind the curtain) Heh heh, Gotcha.
