First Day on the Set: Epilogue

…continued from First Day On the Set…

After a less than satisfactory talk with the director, Andrea packs her things to head out…

Gideon: Andrea...
Andrea: Lovely. Now I get to hear you say “I told you so,” I suppose.

Gideon: Yes, I figured it would be a really smart move on my part to alienate you even further.
Andrea: Well if you aren’t gloating, what do you want?
Gideon: I’m a glutton for punishment; I came to offer you my services one last time.

Andrea: What are my other options?
Gideon: You have none. Not unless you can re-contract with your old coach.
Andrea: That’s not possible. I can’t be available when he is.
Gideon: Chances like this part don’t come along every day, Andrea. What is so damned important that you’d pass up what could be the opportunity of a lifetime?
Andrea: I…I’m not going to say. It’s personal.

Gideon: If you were as dedicated as you need to be, personal matters would not get in the way.
Andrea: I’ll never be that dedicated.

Gideon: Then you don’t deserve the chance that’s been handed to you. If you’re not serious about acting, you’re a liability to everyone who is. And if that’s the way it is, I can’t help you.
Andrea: I don’t buy your “helpful” attitude. Not one bit. If you were serious about wanting to help, you would never have agreed with that ridiculous condition in the first place.
Gideon: How did this get pushed onto me? You’re trying to take the easy way out, and somehow it’s all my fault? I’ll go review the audition tapes with the director; your replacement will need to be hired as soon as possible.

Andrea: I can see I’m getting nowhere, trying to appeal to your “better nature.” You don’t have one.
Gideon: Whatever you say. It’s still your decision.
Andrea: *sighs* I really want to do this. Even if it means working with you. If I can do that, I can do anything, I suppose.
Gideon: Such high praise, Andrea. Be careful, I’ll get a big head.

Andrea: I’m sorry. I know I should be grateful for the chance to keep working.
Gideon: Don’t be. The last thing I want is your gratitude.
