Something's Different Today

A few days after Kaida and Eli had their little talk (There's An Us?) Kenzo was taken to task by Beamlette's Oona, who often takes it upon herself to keep the others in that household in line (well, as much as that's possible, anyway.) Oona and Persephone brought to Kenzo's attention that not only was he neglecting Kaida, but that she and Asher's brother were quite possibly becoming "an item"....and..... just in case it mattered...... the other guy was tall.............
...About the same time, Asher had a little talk with Kaida...........
Asher Still here, huh Kaida?
Kaida Yeah. I told Pete I’d sort his script out. He dropped it again.
Asher And he doesn’t believe in staples.
Kaida Guess not.
Asher What’s up, Shortstuff? How’s it going?
Kaida It’s going okay.
Asher You don’t sound okay, and something’s different about you. Don’t know what it is.
Kaida Nope, Same ol’ Kaida.
Asher I know what it is. You’re not wearing your necklace. I don’t think I’ve seen you without it since before Christmas.
Kaida Oh. Yeah. Guess I forgot it this morning.
Asher You sure there’s nothing wrong?
Kaida Sure I’m sure. You going out with Kohana tonight?
Asher For a quick dinner, yeah. You eat yet?
Kaida I’m ok. Have a good time.
Asher Don’t work too long. And Kaida? If we aren’t back when you want to leave, give Eli a buzz. He’ll drive you.
Kaida Yeah, ok, I will. Thanks.
A little while later, Kaida heard from Kenzo, who apologized for not being in touch, and asked if there was anything he could do to make it up to her. Like maybe, grow a few more feet....
...So Kaida replied:
Hey Kenzo:
Remember what I told you the night before you left?
Nothing makes me happier than being with you. That hasn't changed. I know I change my mind a lot, but not about this.
I miss you, so if you want those smiles you're going to have to come get 'em, mister. Although... I always smile when I think about you. Even when it's just on the inside.
And another thing....
...if you grew another few feet? Bet you'd be pretty darn clumsy playing soccer! I think you better just stick with the two feet you have now. *smile*
...Whereupon Kenzo acknowledged her answer and all was well.....or was it?............
