Jeremiah: Hey, what’s up?

Kaida: Yikes! Don’t sneak up on me like that!
Jeremiah: Wasn’t sneaking, but someone here is.
Kaida: Shhhhh, she could be anywhere.
Jeremiah: Dolores?

Kaida: Shhhhhhh, yes!
Jeremiah: Want me to play lookout for you?
Kaida: That would be great. I just need to get this put back before…..

Dolores: Miss Sasaki!
Kaida: AAAAAAYIIIIIIEEEEEEEEEEEEE!!!!!
*Startled and turning too quickly, Kaida loses her footing and tumbles, taking Jeremiah down along with her*

Dolores: What is the meaning of this outrage….. this persistent defiance of my rules?
Kaida: I….I….

Dolores: You were into my costumes again, that much is obvious; and you waited for my day off, didn’t you?
Kaida: I…..I…..

Dolores: Well! Mr. Williamson is going to hear about this – again. Not that he’ll do anything about your deliberate delinquency, but I will have my say!
Kaida: I…..I…..

Jeremiah: Ms. Dolores, this is all my fault. I uh…... I asked uh……Kaida to uh…….come in here and…..
Kaida: No, Jeremiah. Don’t.
Dolores: Oh, don’t you worry, missy. I wouldn’t believe it of him anyway. But you….. I hope you don’t have any after school or evening activities planned for the next few weeks……no, make that months.

Kaida: Months?
Dolores: At least. I will be requiring your presence to……..what’s wrong with you, boy?
*Jeremiah is supporting himself on the wall*

Jeremiah: Nothing. *tries to stand straight but nearly falls over*
Dolores: Don’t give me that. You’ve gone and hurt yourself.
Jeremiah: No, I…..

Dolores: Kaida, get that chair and bring it over here. Make it snappy, girl.

Dolores: Now go get Asher, and that sister of yours if she’s around. This boy needs to be looked at.
Kaida: Yes, ma’am. Right away. *leaves*

Dolores: (in a softer tone) You’d be wise to avoid that one in the future. Nothing but trouble.
Jeremiah: I thought you liked Kaida.
Dolores: Like her? Of course I like her. But she insists on breaking my rules, and I will not tolerate that.

Jeremiah: She makes up for it; she told me you put her to work to pay for her “crimes.”
Dolores: Yes, I do, and she does the work well; I’ve never had such an industrious assistant.

Jeremiah: Well, then, why are you warning me away?

Dolores: *stays silent for a moment, considering* I have eyes, young man. I can see how it is with you, and that’s never going to go anywhere – you know that, don’t you?

Jeremiah: I guess.
Dolores: Save yourself a lot of trouble. If it’s not already too late.

Jeremiah: I……
*Jeremiah is interrupted by Asher and Kohana’s arrival*
