Mailroom Clerk: Hey Applebaum – delivery for you. Oooo-oooo - came by courier – somebody must be pret-ty important! *hands a large envelope to Annette*
Annette: Don’t you have some packages to mangle, Robby?
Mailroom Clerk: Yep, that’s next on my list. Later!
Annette: *peering at the package closely* I wonder what this could be…. it feels like a book. Did I order research material?…. Can’t remember… *opens the envelope* Oh! So that’s what this is! Dana’s book! How wonderful!
*her cell rings*
Annette: Yes, hello? Um, I mean, Annette Applebaum speaking. How may I help you?
Dana : *on the other end of the phone* Open the book.
Annette: Excuse me? Who is this?
Dana : Just the front cover, then flip to the dedication.
Annette: Dana! Is that you? My, what a coincidence…..I was just looking at your new…. but you know that, don’t you? How did you know?
Dana : Just open the book, okay?
Annette: All right. *she opens it and reads:* “Dedicated to Annette Applebaum, newspaper reporter extraordinaire. She exposed me for what I am and made me the man I am today.” *laughs* Well, this is real sweet of you, Dana, but I didn’t do anything to deserve this! I had nothing to do with the article being picked up by Reuters or the Associated Press or….or any of the wire services…. I really didn’t. But thank you.
Dana : I hereby request to be thanked in person.
Annette: Oh, Dana, I would love to visit your area again, but I don’t have that much vacation time left, not until…
Dana : You won’t need vacation days. I’m right here – downstairs. Waiting in the lobby.
Annette: Don’t go anywhere - I’ll be right there!
