Kaida: Whatcha got there?
Kohana: Oh, nothing.
Kaida: The way you’re hiding it, I thought it was note from Asher, but you don’t look happy about it. Do you want to talk about it?
Kohana: No, I….. yes, I suppose I should. But I’m a little embarrassed. I’m being ridiculous over such a little thing.
Kaida: You’re never ridiculous. What is it, Aneko?
Kohana: It’s a… I got my exam scores back. In one of my classes……the results aren’t…..what I expected.
Kaida: (teasing) What happened – did you get a “B” or something?
Kohana: Um, yes, actually. A high one, but it’s still a “B.” I’m so disappointed in myself. This has never happened before, you know?
Kaida: Never? Sheeesh, I have to say it’s about time then!
Kohana: You know I don’t see it that way, Kaida. You know how seriously I take my studies.
Kaida: Taking them seriously and obsessing over your first B are two different things. It had to happen sometime.
Kohana: I suppose. Odd that it happened now, just when I have been goofing off so much.
Kaida: You? Goofing off? What did you do? Leave a class five minutes early or something and screw up your whole education?
Kohana: No need to be sarcastic. If you must know, I’ve been very lax lately, and I’ve been missing a good deal of study time to…..spend more time with Asher. I thought I could handle juggling everything at once, but apparently…. I can’t.
Kaida: One B is not a major tragedy. I get ‘em all the time, Sometimes I get lower grades too. Don’t let it bother you.
Kohana: That might be okay for you; it’s never been all right for me – you know that.
Kaida: Kohana, that’s just your pride talking. Asher loves you just the way you are. You don’t have to get straight A’s.
Kohana: (sighs) I know. Thank you for listening.
Kaida: Hey, keep this in mind when you see my latest report card, ok?
