Anniversary Present

Lucy: Pete, where is Zenny? Please don’t tell me you forgot to swing by and pick her up on your way here…
Pete: Nah, she’ll be here in a sec. She just left something in the car.
Lucy: That’s a relief; I could not manage to sit here waiting much longer. As it is, I had to schedule this on my lunch hour.

Pete: Lunch hour? Pfffft. You don’t take a lunch hour, Lucy.
Lucy: Not usually no, but I am entitled to one when I need it. I thought getting this done for our parents’ anniversary was important enough to use mine today.

Zenny: Here I am! Aren’t you two lucky? Forgot and had to get my hat. Gonna need it for the pictures.

Lucy: Oh no Zenny, you will not be wearing that ratty thing.
Zenny: Hey, you said Mom and Dad would ‘preciate a picture of us looking like our best selves. This is the best hat I got.
Lucy: Yes, I know I said that, but I certainly did not mean…
Pete: She does wear the hat all the time, Luce.

Lucy: Peter Tomszewski, you are being no help at all! Zenny, I simply forbid you to wear it.
Zenny: You can’t do that!
Pete: Come on, Zenny. Put the hat down. Lucy’s paying for the portraits, so maybe she should get to decide…

Zenny: I don’t care who’s paying. I want to wear my hat. I’m having a real bad hair day and I need it.
Lucy: You hair looks fine, Zenny – doesn’t it, Pete?
Pete: Looks great to me. Kinda hard to mess up such a short style, really…

Zenny: Come on Lucy, puhleeeeeeeeeeeeeeease?
Lucy: I don’t think so.

Pete: Hey Luce, I have an idea. Why don’t we have her wear the hat in some poses and then take it off for the rest?
Zenny: Oh yeah, I would do that! Come on, Lucy. Then we can see which way comes out the best.
Lucy: I suppose. But I get to choose which is the nicest shot to reproduce for the package. If you don’t like it, you’ll have to pay for any of the others.

Pete: That’s fair, isn’t it Zenny?
Zenny: I guess. I think I have enough babysitting bucks to spring for a picture or two. If I have to.
Pete: Or I can, Lucy. You don’t have to pay for everything.
Lucy: All right, all right - let’s just do this, okay? We can quibble about who is paying later. Come on, I don’t have much time left.

The Family Tomszewski: Piotr (Pete,) Lucynka (Lucy,) and Zenobia (Zenny); hoping they look like their best selves.
