Dream Assignment

Kaida: Hey, Kohana?
Kohana: Yes, Kaida?
Kaida: Can I borrow you for a minute? I have to do something for a school project. Won’t take long, I promise.
Kohana: I would love a short break from this last minute studying. One more exam and I can take a much longer break…. What is it? What kind of project?
Kaida: It’s a research project - about dreams. Can I interview you?
Kohana: Well I suppose you can, but I don’t usually remember my dreams, so I don’t know how much help I can be.
Kaida: There’s only a couple questions. But I have to ask as many people as I can.
Kohana: Ok, go for it.
Kaida: Well the first one you already answered, it’s: Do you remember your dreams when you wake up?
Kohana: Rarely. But I can usually tell if I have had one because I am left with a vague sense that something happened…kind of a residual emotion, you know?
Kaida: Oh yeah, I have that kind too.
Kohana: What’s the other question?
Kaida: The second question is longer: Do you believe that dreams have any supernatural or paranormal significance? And if yes, what? Any examples you can give me?
Kohana: Oh that’s a tough one for me. Since I rarely remember them, I hope their meanings aren’t too important……. but yes, I suppose I do think there must be something special about the messages we tell ourselves when we dream. Hmmmm…..What do you believe?
Kaida: Hey, I’m the interviewer here, not the interview-ee….
Kohana: Still, it’s not something we usually talk about, so…. I’m curious……
Kaida: Guess I’m on the fence a bit. I think interpreting my dreams can tell me something, but I also think they are often just mixed-up reruns of things that have already happened. And I remember mine most times.
Kohana: That would be nice, to remember your dreams…. the happy ones anyway.
Kaida: I’ll let you get back to your studying. Thanks a bunch, Aneko.
Kohana: You’re welcome. Always glad to help with your schoolwork, you know that.
