Eli: Raining Men Theme

Originally posted on April 12, 2008

In observation of the "It's Raining Men" theme on one of the boards, I highlighted a different man each night for several nights running. This is Eli's post...

Eli hasn’t been showing his face much lately….(theme post)>>>

Now that his paler doppelganger is leaving, he is more than willing to come out again.

Eli was my first Saint, and only my second Dollshe guy. Shortly after I introduced Asher, I decided he wasn’t an only child, but had brothers. Two brothers, twins…. And the rest is history. I had my eye on a Saint and a Bernard to play my twins, and I wanted to order them from Tensiya, because I really thought I liked their face-ups best. But it’s very hard for me to wait for a doll after ordering, and I had heard that Tensiya was particularly slow to ship. So I saved and waited. In the meantime, Dollmore lost their permission to sell Dollshe… and the Dollmore Saint was a close second as a favorite. This picture from their site seemed to epitomize the character I had in mind for my oldest twin, Eli, who had his name and a lot of his personality in place long before he came home.

I loved the attitude on this guy, the red hair, and everything!

Attuned to Saint news and sales posts as I was, I happened to pick up a small comment made by a friend, that she was thinking of selling her Saint. He was the Dollmore version. I inquired, she sold him to me, and I was thrilled! It was November 2006. Eli came home and I had to decide on a wig for him. I did consider getting the Dollmore one in the picture above, but didn’t get the chance to order before I noticed a sale of open stock custom wigs by KStarr. Eli’s strawberry blonde wig is a blend of three different color fibers, and I love its very realistic, yet unusual color. At the same time I bought another very differently-styled wig in the same color blend, that later became Eron’s wig.

I didn’t introduce Eli right away – I needed his twin brother after all, and was still on the lookout for the Bernard I thought I wanted.

I started writing stories, but kept my Saint under wraps. Looking back I’m not sure how I managed to do that. I was really excited by the possibilities of his sculpt.

While doll-chatting a couple weeks after I got Eli, another good friend announced that she bought a doll she didn’t really want. Of course we all asked her who, and she showed us a pretty bad picture of an SA Saint she had picked up on Ebay. I had just purchased Eli so I hadn’t had the chance to save up again… but no one else wanted him – what else could I do? I got him, too, and he became Eron. Good bye, Bernard, at least for a while.

I hinted about the guys in a pre-Christmas story, and didn’t show their faces. It took me another two months to be ready with their introduction.

For some reason, Kaida and Eli didn’t get along too well, not right away. Eli delighted in teasing Kaida about her (short) height, and Kaida got back at Eli any way she could. She got a bit creative at times; one of her tricks was sewing a basketful of Dolores’s fancy trims on Eli’s jacket while he wasn’t paying attention.

All this was before Eli met Cassandra. Once that happened, tormenting Kaida had to take a back seat to Eli’s sometimes over-the-top attempts to get and keep “Tiny’s” attention focused on him. It was to impress Cassandra that Eli first donned his famous cowboy hat for photos….

All along, while Eli kept trying harder and harder, posting picture after picture….. someone was saving every one of them. Eventually he found out…

And that’s probably more Eli than anyone wanted to see!

Eli is very outgoing, so you’ve probably seen him often. I truly enjoy my big boys. Their posing is so life-like at times, they seem to tell me how to write their stories.
